Abstract
J2ME (Java2, Micro Edition) is an emerging platform for mobile handheld applications. J2ME promises to be ubiquitous: there are currently over 120 million J2ME-enabled mobile phones in users' hands, and it is estimated that 95% of all mobile phones will be J2ME-enabled by 2007. We will present an overview of the J2ME platform and then dive in to the tools available for building and testing J2ME applications on Linux. We will discuss deploying J2ME applications to mobile phones and on the Sharp Zaurus. The talk will include lots of code and live demos.
Bio
Richard and Alex are the founders of Altisimo Computing, a J2ME training and consulting company. They chair the New England Java Users Group's J2ME SIG, and they write a J2ME column for Java Developers Journal. Richard has been using Linux since before kernel 1.0.
